ALVAR AALTO
One of my personal favorite designers is Alvar Aalto. He was a Finnish architect and designer. He occasionally is called "The Father of Modernism" in the nordic countries. This particular chair was designed for the Paimio Sanatorium of 1929-32. It was innovative because it demonstrates the possibilities of bentwood in a graceful, scrolling form, devoid of right angles and sharp geometry.
